Couple Moved to Assisted Living

When families are unable to help aging grandparents–either due to distance or finances–someone needs to step in and make-up for what government programs don’t cover.

In instances where such assistance is needed, and Jamie Lee Foundation learns about it, we turn to donors to make up the difference. One such case involved a couple who realized their independence was putting their health and welfare at risk.

They considered assisted living, but a quick investigation seemed to indicate they didn’t have the finances to afford it. Jamie Lee partnered with a senior planning firm to apply for government assistance that provided the additional finances needed. We were also able to provide over $6,000 to cover expenses moving them closer to family–including furniture to fit in a space significantly reduced from the square footage of their home.
